MA WAN NATURE PARK IS THE CREATION OF A NATURAL PARKLAND AND LEANING ENVIRONMENT OVERLOOKING HONG KONG

Whilst consulting to our client, Sun Hung Kai, Gary on behalf iWolff Atelier was responsible for design and masterplan for this nature park comprising 17.4 hectares on Ma Wan Island, Hong Kong.

The development incorporated an Entry Plaza, Group Arrival Plaza, Arbour, Nature Trails and Hilltop Lookout. The development focuses on creating a tranquil retreat for Hong Kong residents, an outdoor classroom and a destination of international visitors through retention and enhancement of the existing natural and cultural features.

The design of philosophy incorporated natural geometries to establish a subtle overlay of an outdoor leaning environment. The Golden Mean is a naturally occurring number in nature establishing patterns, pathways and reclusive areas within the natural park environment.

Gary was responsible for the establishment of the park’s design guidelines and wrote the design philosophy for its future development.
