CREATING AN INNOVATIVE MELBOURNE CHIC SOLUTION FOR THIS BOUTIQUE HOTEL.

iWolff Atelier as architects for the creation of the luxurious Hotel Suites on level 14 captured the opportunity of utilising the existing volumes on the uppermost floor of the existing DoubleTree Hotel in Flinders Street, Melbourne.  Based on Melbourne’s bold philosophy of expressive architecture iWolff Atelier transformed the exiting raw volumes into individually designed hotel suites expressing the industrial structure where possible and capturing framed vistas to the Yarra River and beyond.  This led to an opportunity to individually design each of the rooms to have their own unique qualities.

Guests arrive in a compressed warm lobby which opens to higher volumes when approaching the suites.  The two suites adjacent Flinders Street capture the cityscape views along the street as well as majestic Flinders Street Station, the Yarra River and beyond.

Three suites utilise the industrial qualities of the building to create loft rooms within the double height volumes.  Each bedroom loft area is accessed via carefully crafted staircases with glazed balustrades allowing views into the living area below and through framed windows to the busy streets of Melbourne below.

Working with Woods Bagot as the Interior Designers who stylishly created the Melbourne idiom, iWolff Atelier meticulously coordinated the quality of finishes and exquisite detailing to provide a unique guest experience.  The solution is a testament to unrivalled teamwork and cooperation of all parties delivering this bold boutique project.
