‘Drifter Melbourne’ provides boutique hostel accommodation which blends hotel comfort and style within a variety of vibrant spaces.

‘Drifter’ is situated in a key location in Melbourne’s CBD with access to the iconic Queen Victoria Market, the Melbourne city, retail hotspots, gourmet dining, and the thriving arts scene.

Originally a commercial building built in 1928 the conversion of this heritage listed building has created an opportunity to express the structure, services and skeleton of this building to deliver modern expressive hostel accommodation.

As the base building documentation architects, iWolff Atelier collaborating with the Interior Designer, CTRL.SPACE, is responsible for providing architectural services for documentation, coordination and delivery of this special complex project on site.

This boutique building encompasses a collection of shared accommodation room types. It includes shared kitchen and laundry facilities for the guests. Each accommodation level opens to a central communal space providing a variety of experiences in shared open planned spaces.

The built form creates a significant elegant landmark at the corner with a sense of scale and proportion to represent the flagship facility in Australia.
